Yep, this dramatic downturn in the economy started with my decision last January 1st to not buy anything new for one year.

No new stocks. No investments except to the Roastery.

My clothes are tatters. My record collection, used books continues to grow.

I played many rounds of golf with many and varied golf balls. Some found in the basement; others on the preceding hole. I did not buy one new golf thing.

No new fish lures. Amazing.

I biked, walked and delivered as much coffee I could without the car. Send those gas companies into a tailspin.

1) to go beyond recycling in trying to counteract the negative global environmental and socioeconomic impacts of U.S. consumer culture, to resist global corporatism, and to support local businesses, farms, etc; 2) to reduce clutter and waste in our homes (as in trash Compact-er); 3) to simplify our lives (as in Calm-pact)
